Bernard is a seasoned financial professional, with over twenty-five years of experience in finance and accounting. As Controller for Royal Properties, Mr. Ter Keurst oversees all accounting and finance activities and staff, financial statement reporting for the company and related entities, and assists the outside CPAs with tax inquires and reports. He obtained his Florida CPA license in 1994, and has been in corporate accounting ever since, mostly holding accounting lead positions from Controller to CFO, having worked for smaller organizations to Fortune 500 companies in both Southern California and later Florida.
He has extensive experience in the real estate industry as a former Controller for a large real estate holding company that owned many office buildings, farms, ranches, and mobile home parks, as well as a classic automobile museum/dealership. He has also been an active real estate investor for the
last 15 years. Bernard’s roots are in Holland and Grand Rapids, Michigan (where he attended Calvin College), Southern California, and Florida, where he obtained his Masters in Accounting from the University of Florida.
Bernard enjoys the Florida beaches, traveling, and an occasional game of golf, as well as other outside business interests, and is a Board Member/President of his homeowner’s association.
